Brief 

JODHOUR Project: Support for employment and entrepreneurship in the cultural, agricultural and tourism heritage chain in the governorates of Mafraq, Ma’an and Aqaba a 9-months Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (IACS) funded program designed to provide a technical training on protected agriculture for cash workers, and technical supervision of various agricultural activities inside the protected agricultural greenhouse.

 

Project Objectives 

 

  1. Improving the self-reliance of disadvantaged Jordanians and refugees through short-term employment.
  2. Increasing their participation in providing services and infrastructure in the host communities.
  3. Supporting employment and entrepreneurship in the cultural, agricultural and tourism heritage in the governorates of Mafraq, Maan and Aqaba.

 

Project Activities

 

  1. Purchasing and installing a protected farmhouse with an area of approximately 300 square meters to implement the concept of smart farming, and it will be fully equipped to carry out cash-for-work activities in Al-Qwairah/Aqaba – on land provided by Al-Qwairah Municipality.
  2. Providing technical training on protected agriculture for cash workers, and technical supervision of various agricultural activities inside the protected agricultural greenhouse.

  3. Providing technical training to develop home businesses and micro, small and medium enterprises in agricultural technologies to approximately 60 beneficiaries. Technical training courses for business development in the agricultural sector will be implemented, and the training will target both existing projects and start-ups.

 

Expected results of the project

 

  1. Helping Jordanians and Syrians access accelerated recruitment/training programs.
  2. Enhancing the capacity of cooperatives and community associations to plan and implement sustainable economic initiatives in the cultural tourism chain and in the agricultural supply chain.

  3. Helping self-employed economic and sustainable entrepreneurial activities to be supported within the cultural and agricultural tourism chain.
