1 October 2022 – 2023

MIRRA-WSI partnership Launched its 2022/2023 Program “Water-Wise Schools” in Jordan on 1 October 2022 in Amman, Jordan.

Funded by the Water Solutions International e.V. (WSI), the program targets 80 Jordanian public education staff in 4 Governorates (Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, and North Badia) and fifty thousand relevant stakeholders.

Objectives:

The project aims to gain the support of public-school teachers, education staff, and key stakeholders from all over Jordan to impede Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) technologies into the educational and management system of public schools. The project will focus on greywater treatment (GWTR), black water treatment, and their reuse, in addition to rainwater harvesting and interventions in public schools.

Tasks:

The project consists of two activities:

  • Activity 1.1: Eighty Jordanian public education staff from the education directorate and schools are trained on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in schools. Activity 1.1 will be implemented using a series of four workshops in various meetings or previous demonstration sites covering North, middle, and south Jordan.
  • Activity 1.2: Fifty thousand relevant stakeholders are outreached and enlighted on the project’s shared knowledge and output. Activity 1.2 will be implemented using films, social media outlets, printed and digital publications, blog articles, and others.

Project Progress (Updated November 2022)

The project’s work plan implementation began in October, whereby MIRRA’s technical team prepared all training materials and brochures necessary for training and visited nearly three schools in different governorates. As a result, almost twenty male and female teachers have been trained, equivalent to 25 percent of the total number of trainees.
