MIRRA – MIRRA continues installing innovative flushing systems at Jordanian Schools

04/10/2020

MIRRA continues, in cooperation with Wakileh Contracting, the installation of flush valves at schools as a solution for high maintenance requirements of the traditional flushing systems. This time at Ballas Secondary School for Girls in Ajloun.

Flush valves are principally water-diverting valves that make use of pressure from the water supply network, in lieu of gravity, for flushing a toilet or a urinal.

It is installed in such a way that the water used per flush is 3 to 4 liters in compare to 10 to 20 liters in the conventional common flushing systems in Jordanian schools. Even though Flush valves are known as relatively expensive devices, in comparison with the classical toilet’s flushing cisterns, the difference is paid off in the long run because of the high robustness and low maintenance requirements.

This initiative in part of WASH in Schools Project 2020/2021.

The project is funded by UNICEF Jordan and implemented by MIRRA.
